CamSync records video on your device and can back it up directly to a Google Drive account you connect. CamSync does not operate an application server or user database.
Recordings, settings, upload progress, and upload history are stored in your browser’s local storage and IndexedDB. Basic information about your last connected Google account and its backup folder is also saved locally. Google access tokens are held only in memory while the app is running.
Google Identity Services handles account sign-in and consent. CamSync requests the drive.file permission, allowing it to manage files created by, opened with, or shared with this app. Recordings are sent directly from your device to Google Drive; they are not uploaded to the website host.
After a backup’s file ID and size are verified, its phone copy is eligible for deletion after 7, 14, or 30 days, according to your setting. Cleanup runs while the app is open or when it is next reopened. CamSync’s retention cleanup does not delete Drive backups. Recordings waiting for a verified upload are kept locally.
GitHub Pages hosts the app files. Loading the site sends normal web requests to GitHub, which may process connection information under its own privacy policy. When online, the app loads Google’s sign-in library. Google processes sign-in information and authorized backups under its own policies. CamSync does not add advertising or analytics trackers and does not sell your recording or account data.
You can disconnect Google in Settings or revoke the app’s access through your Google account. You can remove local data by clearing this site’s browser data. Clearing that data removes unsynced recordings too. To delete a Drive backup, use Google Drive. Disconnecting does not remove recordings already stored on your device or in Drive.
For questions or issues, use the CamSync issue tracker. Avoid posting recordings, credentials, or other private information in public issues.
